  1. “My heart hurts for you. Losing a companion after so many years is incredibly hard. Myrtle was so lucky to have you for 22 years of love.”

  2. I’m so sorry this has happened. I will miss Myrtle’s ‘input’ on salmon futures and other similar topics. I always loved hearing from her in the newsletter. Thank you for sharing her with us over the years.

  3. What a beautiful tribute, Rob. Thank you for sharing Myrtle with us all these years.

  4. Dear Dad,
    Meow! 🐾
I went on a little adventure to explore the neighborhood. There are so many interesting sights and smells out here in Reno! I promise I’m being careful and having lots of fun. Don’t worry about me—I’ll be home soon for snuggles and treats.
    Miss you!
Purrs and whisker kisses, Your Curious Cat, Myrtle 🐱

  5. Rob,
Rachel & I often talk about your Myrtle as we too have a “mortgage” cat named Remy. Remy is around 14, and we often wonder if he’ll just dip out when the time comes. We are so sorry to hear about Myrtle. Having a cool cat is a real treasure. Both you and I are lucky as well as better off being part of their lives, because that’s the real way that it is… we’re their pets!

  6. It has been said that “Pets are not our whole lives, but that they make our lives whole.” And Helen Keller once said, “What we have once enjoyed, we can never lose; all that we love deeply, becomes part of us.” Rest in peace and love Myrtle!

  7. I know how hard it is to lose a pet, they are part of your everything. Don’t lose hope, pets can be very resourceful. There’s a chance Mrytle will find her way back to you or someone will find her.

  8. Sorry to hear about Myrtle. I know how attached one can become to their pets. I have two cats that were inherited from one of my sons. I never considered myself to be a cat person but I love them. Cheers

  9. So sorry to hear about Myrtle. It is amazing how much a part of your life cats become. I have lost several over the years and each was special with their own stories. The last was a “tortie” like Myrtle. She was more dog than cat. Hopefully Myrtle shows up.

  10. Rob, I’m writing this as my cat Bootsy is doing a figure 8 through my legs so I really feel your pain. I rescued her 15 years ago. I know you didnt want another email but I had to tell you that my friends indoor/outdoor cat also went missing in a heavily wooded lot. After 5 months of mourning and searching Mr.Ollie came back as though nothing happened.

  11. you made me cry not from sorrow but from the joy who shared with mytle
you were both very lucky to have each other and love how you shared with all of us
    thank you

  13. Animals have always been an important part of our lives, too. I had cats growing up, and they meant a lot to me. Our current cat, Tiger Kitty, is a rescue (speaking of the pound). He is so loving. I am sorry for your loss, Rob.

  14. Myrtle – We are all better people, having read of your adventures over the years. Your keen management of Rob over the years left all of us readers informed and inspired. He will never find another boss (and friend) like you.

  15. Very sorry to hear about the loss of the beloved Myrtle! I will hold out hope that this was not her last adventure…she lived a great life. Hugs to you!

  16. So sorry to hear about Myrtle! Whenever I saw you I would ask you about her. Even though I never met her, I felt I knew her. What a great tribute/commentary to Myrtle. You have some great memories . My thoughts are with you and the family.

  17. Thank you for sharing your thoughtful and heartfelt tribute to Myrtle with us today, pets are family. 13 years is a lot of joy.

    1. Very sorry to hear this, Rob. I hope the great memories of her being with you help get you through your sorrow
  18. My deepest Rob, we will all miss Myrtle and your adventures together. I am so sorry.

  19. Personally, I’d check to see if the CFPB had a hand in this. She was never a fan…

Sweet Myrtle Turtle. Thankful for having the chance to meet her once. I hope she is mousing with Sweetie. 🙏🏻

  20. As the former servant of Myrtle the Sheepdog, I mourn with you, Rob. Kudos for writing a brilliant goodbye, even if we can never actually say goodbye to a companion who gave us unconditional love.

  21. I’m so sorry about sweet Myrtle Turtle. As a loyal subscriber, I had come to look forward to Myrtle’s contributions.
